Cold Creatures

The gerbil situation got ugly but not the way I expected.  The runt of the last litter either starved to death or. . . something. He was the first gerbil I had to bury. For some reason he must not smelled appetizing.

The babies have been in three varieties: regular sandy brown and white, orange and white, and cookies and cream (almost panda-like). So far all the cookies and cream babies have died or were eaten. Do they have a genetic defect? Do their parents just like their taste? Maybe one will survive eventually.

And, yes, despite a high temperature of 55 today, seven lizards were running around the wall. 42 days until winter yet there they were.
