Superworm

2015-06-19 00.09.12

Superworms are the larval form of darkling beetles. Common mealworms are also classified as darkling beetles despite being in another genus.

Superworms are much larger than regular mealworms and can bite hard enough to notice (they don’t break the skin or hurt but it feels like being rubbed with sandpaper). Supposedly they are high in protein and good for human diets but I plan on only feeding them to the turtle.
