Open My Pants, Lord?

I just finished Psalm 119 and had a shock. After several short psalms, 119 is unusually long, 176 verses in all. It is an acrostic poem, with each verse starting with successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet (normally this would be an ABC poem or an Abecedarian but all sources I checked refer to it as acrostic).

I didn’t have a good night’s sleep and this morning when I read verse 131, I thought it said, “I open my mouth and pants.”

Not remembering a porno scene in Psalms the first time I read it, I did a double take. It really said, “I open my mouth and pant,/longing for your commands.”

Still a bit odd but it keeps a PG rating.
